A lot of girls are wondering a lot about whether they should even bother trying to make it as a cam girl, given that OnlyFans has become so big, and so much money is being made on that site. Well, I just can’t believe how easily people buy the bullcrap that gets shoveled by the mainstream media on topics like this. No, OnlyFans is definitely NOT replacing cam girls, and no, it’s not actually a better place to make more money. Let me explain some shit.
Why Being a Cam Girl Still Works Best
OnlyFans USED TO BE a great platform for adult models and sex workers because it is designed to make it easy for content creators to monetize their fans. You can charge for DMs, you can hold fundraisers on the platform, you can get tipped, and lots more. On top of that, OnlyFans was fairly easy to use in terms of managing content.
The problem with OnlyFans is that IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY TRAFFIC. At least, none of its own! You have to attract eyeballs YOURSELF. You can’t just put up an OnlyFans and expect to get lots of people subscribing immediately. Doesn’t work that way, girls.
Now, if you already have a large following of fans on social media, then you can definitely get subscribers right away. However, if you’re like most girls and have no serious following yet, you’re gonna make peanuts, if anything at all, on OnlyFans.
Cam Girls, on the other hand, don’t have this traffic problem. When you sign up at a cam site, especially one like Chaturbate that is ranked as one of the most visited sites in the world, you will have viewers show up in your room immediately. All you have to do is literally log on and start your broadcast.
This is the obvious reason why camming is not going anywhere anytime soon. Beginner models have no other way to get viewers that they can then turn into regulars and fans down the road. A new cam girl could start broadcasting on Chaturbate, and within a month, literally could have hundreds of paying fans tipping her and paying for shows. That will never occur on OnlyFans.
OnlyFans and Adult Content
The other major reason why OnlyFans is not the place for beginners is that they are now aggressively enforcing their acceptable use policy. As of early October 2021, OnlyFans is shutting down model accounts over stuff that they used to turn a blind eye to. If your content isn’t perfectly vanilla, they may just decide to yank your whole account and keep whatever earnings you’ve made that haven’t yet neen paid out.
Back in August of 2021, OnlyFans actually announced that they would ban all sexually explicit content on their platform! They had to reverse course quickly due to the outcry from their adult content creators, but it’s clear now that they’re not very friendly to sexually explicit stuff any longer.
So, the writing is on the wall, and any adult model who continues to build her business on OnlyFans is essentially building a house on sand. There is no reason, at this point, to expect that OnlyFans won’t delete your whole account if you put up anything that in any small way violates their very strict terms. Not worth it, in my opinion.
I loved OnlyFans for a while, when they were adult friendly, but that definitely has changed, and it’s no place to apply your time and effort anymore.
Using Chaturbate as A Cam Girl
As I have for a really long time, I continue to recommend that new models sign up at Chaturbate and begin their careers there. As a Chaturbate webcam model, you’ll get a ton of traffic and viewers immediately, and you won’t have to worry about getting banned for stupid shit.
Chaturbate is literally the best platform for any new adult model that needs to start making money fast and has no significant fan following. I know of girls who started making thousands per month after only a very short time.
Let’s admit that OnlyFans was great while it lasted, but now it’s time to get back to the tried and true sites that many of us cut our teeth on. We can still make really great money as cam girls, working the big cam sites like Chaturbate, and we don’t have to worry about bring our own traffic anymore.
